Hello Jewelry Lovers! In our newest blog post, we are excited to bring up one of the most essential processes of jewelry making: Design. You probably wonder who we are to lead. To answer that, we want to give some background information about our journey with jewelry making. We have created the brand Rose Aksesuar in 2019. We have participated in 21 bazaars as Rose Aksesuar and we have made and sold more than 600 necklaces and bracelets both in the bazaar and online; through our social media account. Our experiences have shown us that one of the most important and wondered part is the jewelry design process. The only way to win and satisfy customers is through beautiful designs and the quality of the products you offer them. In this process, we have faced a lot of problems and we had overcome many obstacles. Also, we have witnessed many people who have start-up jewelry businesses like us, that face difficulties in their professional lives. Some can not forecast the possible difficulties they might face because they underrate the jewelry design; whereas some are afraid of taking a step into this sector because they overestimate this process and don't even take a small step. It took almost one year for us to understand and get used to this process. Hence, we wanted to prepare this blog post to share our experiences; so that you can easily avoid these obstacles in this path of designing. Our initial step is to share the essentials of the jewelry designing process and what we should avoid doing. In our previous post, we have listed the places where you can obtain jewelry materials and even packaging stuff. If you have the essential materials, let's welcome the design step! The design process is the most exciting part for us since we can present our originality, talents, and taste. There are a few necessary materials such as line, stopper, pliers, jump rings, clip, closures, stoppers, connectors, extension chains. Beads or charms can be in different sizes, and colors, which is totally up to your style. You can start your design process in a place where you feel comfortable. You might think that an atelier is a need, but actually, it is not. One of the biggest advantages of designing jewelry is, you can use any area as a studio. For example, a room in your house or a table can be the best studio for you. But don't forget to use a right-angled light source in order to pick the right color combinations. And you even can design while drinking your coffee on your balcony, having sunlight as a lighting source instead of a lamp. Or you can prefer cafés near your house just like we did. Long story short, in this part, the control is entirely in your hands. At first, your designs can seem unprofessional. However, like any skill, it is a process of building and learning. You can look for inspiration online by checking social media accounts such as Toque jewelry and Bonjouk studio. You'll get better with time, effort, and trial. The feeling you experience is going to worth it when your designs start to get attention and purchases increase over time! Let's start by following the step-by-step design process! The neccessary equipments for jewelry making is: Line, pliers, flat noise pliers, beads, jump rings, clip, 2 closures, 2 stoppers, 2 connecters. You can achieve the places you can buy necessary equipments, in our previous blog: "4 places to visit in Ankara for product supply". However, considering COVID-19, you can give orders from these online markets as well: Step 1: The first step is to adjust the line length and string our beads without cutting the fishing line. Step 2: In order to create a different harmony with the array beads, we recommend you to use beads in two matching colors or similar shades. We pick blue beads in our design, taking into consideration the data and consumer demand we have experienced previous spring; for spring-summer collections most demanded designs are the ones in blue and pearl. Step 3: To make the design more interesting and unique, we add pearl between the beads which enriches the design. (Also considering the customer demand for pearl) Step 4: To make the jewelry more meaningful and appealing, we add an eye-catching gold-tone charm and beads that provide visual balance. Step 5: After adding the charm to the middle part, we double the action and finished the design process of the necklace. After determining the length of the line and cutting it, we place the closure on both ends of the necklace as shown in the image. Step 6: We fixed the stoppers we placed inside the closures by compressing them with flat noise pliers; Through this, we prevented our necklace from falling apart. Since we have experienced big problems through not using stoppers such as tearing up the finished piece; we wanted to lay an emphasis on importance of using stoppers. Step 7: You can compress both of the closures with flat noise pliers; However, at this stage, we recommend you to get support from your hands in order to be more sensitive. Step 8: The final version of both closures should be as in the image. By this, the stoppers will not be visible and provide stop function in case of a break. Step 9: We join a connecter to the end of the closures to add jump ring and clips on both sides. Step 10: At the end of one of these connecter, we add the clips we mentioned in the previous image. At the end of the process, we cut the remaining line with a plier. You can prefer stainless clips and jump rings so that the product will be more qualified in terms of material. Step 11: On the other end of the necklace, we add jump rings to the extent that we decide through using plier. Step 12: And our necklace is ready! Conclusion: Now, it is time to appreciate the effort and enjoy your custom design and unique pieces! Note: Upcoming post will cover the social media appearance of your design and products. Here are some tips of using the necklace as part of your daily combinations.
